Only last month Huawei launched the Ascend Mate in India, and now it appears that it will soon launch its 5-inch 1080p behemoth the Ascend D2 in India if a report by GizBot is to be believed. According to the report, the Ascend D2 has been pictured on the Huawei India website as coming soon, which always is an indication that the device could heading to India.
Originally unveiled at CES earlier in the year, the Ascend D2 is powered by a Huawei made quad-core K3V2 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. Additionally, it has 2GB of RAM and packs in a 13-megapixel shooter in the back and on the front brandishes a 1080p 5-inch IPS display. Theres also a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera, 32GB of internal storage, water-resistant and a 3,000-mAh battery. These are top of the line specifications save for the rather limited K3V2 chipset thats based on an ARM Cortex A9 architecture that does not compete that well with modern Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets like the 600 and 800.
However, Huawei has shown a penchant for aggressive pricing. It had a cracker of a price for the Ascend Mate at Rs 24,900, and we will not be surprised if it prices the Ascend D2 south of Rs 30,000. Still, it will face stiff competition from the likes of the Lenovo K900 that now retails for Rs 26,830 and the Sony Xperia Z which has recently received a price cut.
All said and done, one really cant pass a proper judgement till the device is announced officially because as of now its only listed as coming soon. As we seen before with products, a coming soon listing does not necessarily mean soon.
