Without any dithering, Microsoft has committed to introducing updated version of its two Windows-based tablets in the next year.
During a speech at Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference yesterday, Kevin Turner, the company's chief operating officer, showed a slide that laid out Microsoft's plans for its current fiscal year. On it was "Update to Surface Pro" and "Update to Surface RT".
No specifics were revealed about these plans in the slide. While it's possible it is a reference to the upgrade to Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 RT that are headed for these tablets, there have been rumors that new versions are on the way. Generally, these center around using newer, faster processors that draw less power.
New Surface Accessories
Turner's slide also mentions "New Accessories" and "New Accessory Colors" for the Surface line. No additional details were revealed.
The only accessories currently available from Microsoft are a pair of external keyboards: the Touch Cover and the Type Cover.
